Marketing & Media Bootcamp

MnCUN Marketing & Media Bootcamp

Thursday, Oct. 25-Friday, Oct. 26

Over the past few years, credit unions have been in the financial services spotlight. When other financial institutions pulled back during the recession, credit unions stepped in and showed consumers that not-for-profit financial institutions are the smarter choice. Credit unions must now continue this momentum and tout their unique characteristics.

MnCUN’s Marketing & Media Bootcamp will help credit union professionals view challenges from a new perspective and capitalize on new opportunities. Geared toward marketers, business development professionals and CEOs, this conference will explore ways to highlight the vibrant and growing credit union movement. Day one of the conference will focus on marketing and consumer engagement techniques that can give credit unions the competitive edge. Day two will center around media relations and how to use the media to establish credibility and tell your credit union’s story.

Both exciting and thought-provoking, MnCUN’s Marketing & Media Bootcamp will leave you re-energized and ready to take your credit union’s marketing, business development and media relations to the next level.

As financial literacy skills continue to decrease, consumers will turn to their financial institution to help them manage their daily finances and reach their financial goals.

This session will investigate how credit unions can actively engage members across all channels, including human interaction and technology-driven experiences. Investigate engagement banking and learn about current research, practices and trends. Specific topics include:

  • Industry analysis of engagement banking;
  • Relevance of engagement banking in today’s market;
  • Competition: Credit unions, banks and nonbanks;
  • Channel integration;
  • Role of innovation;
  • Engagement tactics; and
  • How engagement banking impacts the credit union brand.

In this public relations-focused session, attendees will learn how to leverage little known writing techniques, news-generating strategies, and multi-channel tools to gain maximum media exposure. Explore ways to grab the media’s attention and create content that captivates your audience. The session will also discuss social media tactics for securing media and consumer attention.

Lunch & Panel Discussion with Local Reporters

Enjoy lunch while networking and talking with local reporters. This panel discussion will feature reporters from the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal, Star Tribune, Minnesota Public Radio and MinnPost. These seasoned experts will give advice on effective communications and provide their perspectives on the best way to pitch stories, establish relationships, and position your credit union as an important information source. Come with your questions and learn how to build more effective media relations.
