CUSO sponsors benchmark study to assist credit unions with board governance
Effective board governance and risk management are essential to the success of organizations, including credit unions. Wouldn't it be nice to know how your board governance compares to your statewide credit union peers? Sequoia Vantage is funding a benchmark study of Credit Union Board Practices and credit unions are invited to participate. In return for early participation, the credit unions that complete the confidential diagnostic tool will receive, at no cost, the following valuable tools:
- A custom report concerning your credit union's governance practices
- Relevant peer group benchmarking and an answer to "how do we stack up against similar credit unions?"
- Specific highlights to help respond to concerns about the board's alignment, engagement and more
Credit unions are encouraged to participate in this unprecedented study to help improve governance practices. Registration for the Credit Union Governance study is available online by clicking here.

Submit your entries for the Excellence in Lending awards
Entries are being accepted for the 14th annual CUNA Mutual Excellence in Lending Awards, which recognizes outstanding lending results and practices by credit unions. The Excellence in Lending Awards program identifies and shares examples of lending excellence within the credit union movement by recognizing individual credit unions for their ability to serve members while sustaining sound financial performance. Credit unions demonstrating an ability to meet their members' needs through innovation are excellent award candidates.
Credit unions may be nominated for the 2013 award by asset category in consumer lending, mortgage lending, low/modest means lending and business lending. Applications and more information regarding the awards are available on the CUNA Lending Council website. The deadline for submitting applications is Aug. 30.
Sponsored by the CUNA Lending Council and CUNA Mutual Group, the Excellence in Lending Awards will be presented at the CUNA Lending Council's 19th Annual Conference, Nov. 3-6, in Phoenix, Ariz. Airfare, hotel and conference registration for one representative of each winning credit union is included with the award.
