Part 1: Credit Union Boards of Directors
A board of directors is a body of elected or appointed members who jointly oversee the activities of a company or organization.
Great. So, we’ve got the definition down. ... But what does that mean to you?
Depending on your position with the credit union, you may or may not have interaction with your board of directors. However, since the board is responsible for governing the organization, establishing policies, and setting strategy, it’s important for all employees to have a general understanding of how they function.
What is the proper structure of a credit union board? How should boards interact with management and staff? What’s a board meeting like? These questions and more will be covered by our guest speakers who will their share personal experiences with The Crew:
- Harry Carter, President & CEO – TopLine Federal Credit Union
- Jim Kaster, Board Chair – TopLine Federal Credit Union
- Andrew Johannes, Board Chair (and Crew Member!) – St. Cloud Federal Credit Union
Part 2: Resources, Opportunities & Engagement in the Credit Union Movement
The second portion of the session will be dedicated to deepening your involvement and engagement in the credit union movement. Learn more about Minnesota Credit Union Network, who we are, what we do and how to utilize all of our offerings. Members of the Network staff will provide an overview of MnCUN, and discuss a variety of learning channels and professional development opportunities to enhance your knowledge and further your career.
Network staff will also give a preview of Crew activities in 2014 and introduce opportunities to vie for the title of Crew Ambassador.
Part 3: Interactive Team-Building
The Crew event will conclude with a high-energy, deadline-oriented team building activity, complete with missions, challenges and prizes. The activity focuses on leadership, with secondary focuses on problem-solving and identifying strengths. This interactive event will allow participants to get to know other Crew members in a fun setting while devising plans and playing to each other’s strengths.
