Volunteers Needed at Life Simulation for Girl Scouts
On Saturday, May 20, the Minnesota Credit Union Foundation is partnering with the Girl Scouts River Valleys to offer a Mad City Money Life Simulation for Cadettes in grades 8 through 12. Girl Scouts of River Valleys serves 30,000 girls in the southern half of Minnesota and western Wisconsin, including the Twin Cities.
During the life simulation, participants will practice budgeting as an adult with realistic circumstances. Guided by financial experts from credit unions, girls will learn to identify and experience the consequences of poor decisions, develop good judgement regarding spending and making a budget and understand that budgeting is a necessary step in good money management. Girls will work towards earning their Financial Literacy badges.
The event will take place at the Andover Community Center. Girls can take part in the morning session from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. or the afternoon session from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
The Minnesota Credit Union Foundation is seeking credit union professionals to help facilitate the event. 30 volunteers are needed for both morning and afternoon sessions. This is a great opportunity to represent your credit union and experience a reality fair. Lunch will be provided to those who volunteer for both morning and afternoon sessions.
All are welcome to volunteer and women are strongly encouraged to help represent successful female role models for the Girl Scouts.
Full event information and volunteer registration is available online.
