Minnesota Power Employees Credit Union – Anaheim, CA (March 22, 2016) – Nancy C. Hutchinson, senior vice president of marketing and business development for Minnesota Power Employees Credit Union (MPECU), was inducted into the CUNA Marketing and Business Development Council’s Hall of Fame during its annual conference held March 20-23, 2016 in Anaheim, CA.
The Hall of Fame is the Council’s most prestigious honor, and only given to someone who epitomized and exemplifies the spirit of the CUNA (Credit Union National Association) Councils. Recognizing marketing and business development professionals who have demonstrated long-term excellence and a lifelong commitment to the credit union industry. The award is special – because it is not easily won, and is not frequently bestowed.
“I am honored to have worked with Nancy for the past 2 ½ years. As many of you know-Nancy is a FORCE. I barely get an idea out of my mouth and Nancy is on it-taking it from a thought to reality. She works all day for us at the credit union and then goes home and works for CUNA well into the night. She has added 13 Select Employee Groups, 3 mergers and most recently was instrumental in the development of our new branch in the maurices headquarters building. Her countless contributions have not only made the credit union better, but also the entire credit union community,” said President and CEO Debora Almirall.
“Nancy’s is passionate about the credit union movement and works tirelessly for financial literacy. She has high ethical standards, a great work ethic and is an example for others. Her leadership, statistical mind, and successful career, has made a tremendous impact with the people, projects, and communities she has touched,” said Andy Reed, chairman of the Marketing and Business Development Council and CEO of Texas People Federal Credit Union Fort Worth, TX, in his presentation of the award.
Hutchinson’s fortitude and upstanding commitment leaves a legacy of excellence. An instigator of initiatives, projects and people, she is a closer, the person you most want to get the job done, with her unrelenting determination, strong sense of purpose and civic-minded responsibility that make a difference, within organizations, committees, and communities touched by her passion and leadership. Her extensive background in strategic marketing, business development, public relations, strategic management, technical editing, design analysis concepts, and leadership of cross-functional teams spans nearly more than 20 years.
Since joining the MPECU 1997, her efforts and expertise have directly contributed to the organization’s success as a very strong credit union advocator in the United States. Hutchinson in 2008 received an invitation to join the cross-industry Chief Marketing Council. This thought leadership group is drawn from the upper echelons of corporate management, and membership is exclusive to top-ranking corporate marketing decision makers. The organization is comprised of 3,500 professionals from 57 countries and they control over $90B in aggregated annual marketing expenditures. She has won countless awards. Under her leadership, the credit unions has received more than 26 national, international, and industry awards including the prestigious CUNA Business Development Professional of the Year award in 2009. The definition of a servant leader is one that helps others FIRST. In 2008 Minnesota Credit Unions built a home for an injured soldier in the Homes For Troops Projects and Nancy single handedly raised all the funds to full furnish this man’s home down to a beloved pool table he so wanted.
Hutchinson has served on the CUNA Marketing and Business Development Council for more than 19 years, including serving more than six years on its executive board of directors. She’s been involved in several other organizations, including the March of Dimes Board of Directors, America Heart Association, and Duluth Children’s Museum Board of Directors, United Way Power of the Purse, United Way Women’s Leadership Network, Family Involvement Council for the Minnesota Credit Union Network.
