Affinity Plus members save over $190,000 through HomeAdvantage™ Program

Affinity Plus Federal Credit Union – SAINT PAUL, Minn. (February 4, 2016) – In 2015, members of Affinity Plus Federal Credit Union who financed their home purchases with a mortgage from the credit union saved over $190,000 by using the HomeAdvantage™ Program. HomeAdvantage™ connects credit union members with local, trusted real estate agents and provides additional services related to helping members purchase a home, including potential savings at closing when they use one of the qualified real estate agents.
“When we set our goal for 2015 to help at least 70 members purchase homes through HomeAdvantage™, we were excited about the opportunities ahead,” said John Simonsen, Director of Real Estate. “When we reached our initial goal by June and saw such positive feedback from our mortgage loan officers and realtors, we knew the program was something members wanted and knew we could do even more to help members save money and buy homes.”
Affinity Plus partnered with HomeAdvantage™ over ten years ago as a way to better engage members looking to buy or sell a home and provide additional benefits to members, specifically being able to save members money at closing. With the overwhelming number of options to choose from when it comes to finding or financing a new home, Affinity Plus wanted to place more of an emphasis on the benefits HomeAdvantage™ offers that can help make buying a home more manageable. By partnering with local real estate agents and showcasing the unique home search tools available on their website, members who use HomeAdvantage™ are able to simplify and enhance their home search process.
“We helped over 160 members save an average of about $1,200 each, and we believe we can help even more members in 2016 with the momentum this program is having,” shared Simonsen. “I’m very proud of our team for being so conscious of our members’ needs and advocating for doing the right thing.
