Affinity Plus Federal Credit Union – WINONA, Minn. (January 14, 2016) – On Tuesday, community officials and Affinity Plus members gathered to celebrate the grand opening of the credit union’s newly relocated Winona branch, now housed in the historic Latsch & Son building downtown. Currently, the city of Winona is placing a strong focus on revitalizing the downtown area to further engage businesses and residents through an initiative called Opportunity Winona, and Affinity Plus has been an active participant in supporting these efforts. Senator Jeremy Miller, Representative Gene Pelowski Jr., and Mayor Mark Peterson were among the guests and speakers, expressing their excitement for Affinity Plus’ investment in enhancing and re-energizing downtown Winona.

“We all know how important our downtowns are, especially to our small communities and our river communities throughout the state of Minnesota, and this is such a tremendous asset to downtown Winona,” explained Senator Jeremy Miller. “This is really the start of many more great things to come for Winona. I want to congratulate Affinity Plus – this is fantastic! Thank you for encouraging this and working into this space. This is a great asset for you and all of your members and of course all of your employees.”

Affinity Plus began the conversation of expanding their Winona branch over two years ago. Not only were members asking for an improved branch facility, but there were also opportunities to further engage in the city’s vision for the future and hope to boost the community through a strategic relocation. Renovating the historic Latsch & Son building has been a key project for Opportunity Winona, and Mayor Peterson commented on the increased positive energy surrounding the progress of the city’s initiatives. There has also been substantial positive feedback from members on ways in which the new branch space better serves their needs.

“As I was reflecting on today, I thought back on the first meeting we had with the city regarding Affinity Plus’ options for moving and expanding this branch,” said Charlotte Roraff, senior branch manager.  “We discussed what was important to the organization and to our members and it’s not a coincidence that we are choosing to be in downtown Winona. Downtown is definitely where our members’ hearts are, and we are very excited to be a part of this.”

Now featuring a drive-thru, 24-hour drive-up ATM, and more space and offices, the new facility allows for access to more services, an improved member experience, and more privacy. For further information on the Affinity Plus Winona branch, visit affinityplus.org.
