Firefly Credit Union to Host Community Shred Event: Secure Your ID Day

Firefly Credit Union - BURNSVILLE, Minn. (April 26, 2016) - Firefly Credit Union will host a free community shred day Saturday, May 21, from 9 a.m. to noon. Firefly has partnered with Shred Right and the Better Business Bureau to provide the Greater Twin Cities CommunitySM with an opportunity to securely dispose of sensitive documents.
The event will take place at the following Firefly Credit Union branch locations:
- Burnsville, 1400 Riverwood Drive
- Bloomington, 2772 E 82nd St.
- Fridley, 6303 Old Central Ave. NE
- Lakeville, 17533 Cedar Ave.
- Minneapolis, 2535 27th Ave. S
Along with two boxes of free document shredding, Secure Your ID Day will also feature electronics recycling hosted by Green Lights Recycling, Inc.1 Additionally, the first 25 event attendees at each location will receive a Subway® voucher. Attendees will also receive credit union offers on new checking accounts, home equity lines of credit, and auto loans and will have the opportunity to sign up for register-to-win offers at the event, including a rental car giveaway2 and a weekend getaway.3
To prevent fraud, the Federal Trade Commission recommends that consumers “shred receipts, credit offers, credit applications, insurance forms, physician statements, checks, bank statements, expired charge cards, and similar documents when [they] don’t need them any longer.”
