Thursday, May 5, 2016
Firefly Credit Union - BURNSVILLE, Minn. (May 5, 2016) - DECA students from Burnsville High School (BHS) attended Firefly Credit Union’s monthly board meeting at Firefly’s corporate office April 26. The students, along with their advisors, briefly spoke about their involvement thus far in helping plan the in-school Firefly Credit Union branch, which is slated to open during the 2016-17 school year.
Students sat in for the board meeting where they learned about credit union governance as well as a variety of updates for Firefly Credit Union including the kickoff of a new media campaign.
“Inviting the Burnsville High School DECA students to attend the monthly board meeting was a great way not only to keep our board up-to-date on this future branch, but also to help foster the students’ knowledge of our brand as they continue to make important decisions regarding the in-school branch,” said Bill Raker, President/CEO of Firefly Credit Union. “Their attendance helped to create an environment of collaboration and teamwork, which are values integral to the Firefly brand.”
Attending this meeting is only one of the ways the DECA students at BHS have been involved in the in-school branch’s planning. The students also attend bi-monthly meetings with BHS staff and members of the Firefly Executive Team.
