Affinity Plus Federal Credit Union - ST. PAUL, Minn. (May 25, 2016) - Last week, Affinity Plus hosted 17 students from AGAPE High School as part of a two-week personal finance program in partnership with the Minnesota Council on Economic Education (MCEE). The program, facilitated by both AGAPE and MCEE staff, and largely funded by Country Financial, has a focus of empowering young women to understand personal money management. During the visit, students learned more about different types of financial institutions and things to consider when managing personal and family accounts. Employees from the credit union shared their knowledge and experiences and helped the students think more about their personal financial goals and how to feel confident in their ability to manage their money in a way that works for them.
“This was a very successful visit,” said Jane Stockman, program director at MCEE. “Allowing the students to visit an actual financial institution and have individualized time to ask questions of Affinity Plus’ employees had an important impact on their ability to understand what having a relationship with a financial institution can look like. We are very grateful to Affinity Plus for supporting this program and sharing their expertise with these students.”
