Hiway Federal Credit Union - ST. PAUL, Minn. (August 10, 2016) - Tina Jones, Community Outreach Administrator at Hiway Federal Credit Union (Hiway), has been named the 2015 – 2016 High School Volunteer of the Year by Junior Achievement of the Upper Midwest.
Junior Achievement offers financial literacy, college and career readiness, and entrepreneurship education to K-12 students in Minnesota, North Dakota and western Wisconsin. Each year, Junior Achievement partners with more than 8,000 community volunteers to teach programs in nearly 700 schools throughout the upper Midwest. Through age-appropriate curriculum, Junior Achievement programs teach children how they can impact the world around them as individuals, workers and consumers, and prepare students to succeed in school and beyond. Each year, Junior Achievement of the Upper Midwest honors their top volunteers, teachers and corporate partners.
“It has been extremely rewarding for me to volunteer in classrooms for the past nine years, teaching financial education on a variety of topics,” said Jones. “Not only have the students had an opportunity to learn from me, I have also learned from them and have grown from the energy and knowledge they bring to me. This recognition is shared with all of the Hiway associates who have volunteered their time in the classrooms to help foster a positive learning experience and make a difference in the students’ lives.”
