Wings Financial Credit Union - APPLE VALLEY, Minn. (August 24, 2016) - Wings Financial Credit Union announced today the opening of a new, innovative branch concept in downtown Minneapolis’ historic Rand Tower that brings significant natural light to an engaging space and that showcases the credit union’s technology offerings including Personal Teller Machines, a large video wall, iPad bar and device charging stations. The new branch, located on the Skyway level at 527 Marquette Avenue, expands to 17 the number of Wings branch locations in the Twin Cities.
“Our new Rand Tower branch is forward-looking featuring new technology in a space designed to be anything but traditional,” said Frank Weidner, Wings’ President and CEO. “We’re excited to be part of the bustling downtown Skyway community; our new branch lets us showcase both our latest innovations and our commitment to outstanding personal service. A key feature of the new experience is our Personal Tellers that replace the traditional teller line with ATM-like machines capable of handling nearly all teller transactions via live video.”
“The branch concept for financial services is evolving and we’re evolving, too,” said John Wagner, Wings’ Senior Vice President – Member Experience. “This new space is designed for making personal connections and building relationships while shifting most transactions to digital channels. What was originally a dark corner in the skyway is now open, bright and invites those passing by to engage with the Wings brand.”
Wings partnered with Minneapolis-based agency Fame, known for their work in branding and design of retail spaces, to create the new concept. Inver Grove Heights-based Krech, O’Brien, Mueller & Associates provided architectural services, and Minneapolis-based Greiner Construction handled build- out of the space.
"The concept of community is inherent to the Wing's brand and our team wanted to highlight that sense of inclusiveness," said Lynne Robertson, CEO and owner of FAME. "In order to shift the focus from a utilitarian, transactional office to a more memorable, meaningful experience, we had to open up the space, creating a beacon in an otherwise tucked-away corner of the Skyway. Instead of a dark corner, now it's a focal point – vibrant and welcoming to walk-ins and members alike."
Wings will formally celebrate the new branch with a variety of grand opening activities and a ribbon- cutting ceremony during the week of September 19, 2016.
