Royal Credit Union Looks to Connect With 18-25-Year-Olds

CUToday (September 9. 2016) - Royal Credit Union has launched a new program designed specifically for 18-to-25-year-old consumers called “The Smart Connection.”
According to Royal, Smart Connection is meant to help students learn and grow during the years that follow their 18th birthday with lessons in budgeting for higher education, a first apartment, first checking account, first car loan or first home purchase, and more.
The credit union said that Megan Larsen, Smart Connection team lead, Cooper Larson, Wisconsin Smart Connection intern, and Veronica Nelson, Minnesota Smart Connection intern, will share how their stories unfold through blog posts on rcu.org and social media platforms in hopes that others can relate. This team is engaging in the communities’ Royal serves, and hanging out at college campuses in western Wisconsin and eastern Minnesota. They will share financial education and budgeting tips on the campuses of UW-Eau Claire, UW-Stout, UW-River Falls, UW-Barron County, Chippewa Valley Technical College, Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College and University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, the credit union said.
“We want the 25-and-under crowd to know that the Smart Connection team is here for them,” said Larsen in a released statement. “Our team of fiscally fit young women will help connect them to financial resources so they can conquer adulting like a pro.”
To kick off the start of a new school year, the Smart Connection is hosting a #StartOutSmart social media campaign. Students will have the chance to win one of four $500 back to school gift baskets or one of 20 $50 gift cards. Entering to win is as simple as taking a selfie and sharing to Royal’s Facebook page, Twitter, or Instagram.
