Two-Dozen Minnesota CUs Getting Ready For ‘Plus It Forward Day’
Thursday, October 6, 2016
CUtoday.info (October 6, 2016) - Twenty-four credit unions across Minnesota will be participating in an organized day of good on Monday, Oct. 10.
The “Plus It Forward Day” was created by Affinity Plus FCU in 2013, and since then other credit unions have joined the effort.
Among those CUs participating will be TopLine FCU, which will have several TopLine employees volunteering to benefit local non-profits including Community Emergency Assistance Programs and Keystone Community Services.
The credit union said its volunteers will be making a positive impact in the communities that TopLine serves by providing assistance in a food shelf, thrift store or helping to prepare for an annual community spaghetti dinner event.
“We are thrilled to take part in this joint community give-back effort to inspire others to scatter kindness across our Minnesota communities,” said Tom Smith, TopLine president and CEO, in a released statement. “This is really an extension of what TopLine, and credit unions, do all year long, and showcases the true power of working together to make a difference. We look forward to having a fun day making a positive impact in our communities.”
Around Minnesota, it is estimated more than 1,200 credit union employees will dedicate 7,300 total volunteer hours to scatter kindness in their communities. Participating credit unions estimate that the collective reach through efforts on this day will impact more than 22,000 people across 65 Minnesota communities, according to Affinity Plus.
