St. Cloud Federal Credit Union - ST. CLOUD, Minn. (October 12, 2016) - St. Cloud Federal Credit Union closed its branches on Monday, October 10th for its second annual “Community Day” designed to make a difference in the community. The credit union sought to partner with local non-profit organizations to donate time for over 50 employees, ending the selection process with three different groups:
- United Way needed help in painting and cleaning a youth facility. The facility helps less fortunate youth get a good education and training for their future.
- Becky’s Troop Care Packages needed help assembling and creating care packages for Military Troops overseas. The packages are delivered to individuals with a local connection and will be delivered over the holiday season.
- WACOSA works with mentally handicapped individuals to help them develop skills. The group spent the day with fun fall activities.
“In researching local non-profits for our Community Day, I realized how many great organizations exist in our community. We were fortunate to find three different projects for employees to contribute to,” stated Brandon Kuschel, Assistant Manager of St. Cloud Federal Credit Union and project leader for the Community Day. “Our organization is passionate about making a difference, so it was an honor to work with like-minded people; we hope our efforts paid off for them!” stated Kuschel.
St. Cloud Federal Credit Union is proud to continue its annual Community Day. They were also proud that other credit unions participated in a day of giving on October 10th. Around the state, more than 1,200 credit union employees and members dedicated 7,300 total volunteer hours in their communities. Participating credit unions estimate that the collective reach through efforts on that day impacted more than 22,000 people – an active demonstration of the industry’s philosophy of “People Helping People.”
