United Educators Foundation Awards Financial Literacy Grants to Seven Minnesota Schools

United Educators Credit Union Foundation - APPLE VALLEY, Minn. (April 28, 2017) - Seven Minnesota schools received financial literacy grants from the United Educators Credit Union Foundation. The schools that received grants were Herman-Norcross Community School, Maple Lake HS,
Nawayee Center School, Normandale Community College, Washburn HS, Ponemah School, and Wayzata HS.
These schools were awarded grants based on the need to further their efforts in teaching financial literacy in the classroom. Those efforts include the purchase of books to teach financial literacy concepts, job skills training in a transitional setting, and resources to sharpen student entrepreneurial skills.
One of the grant winner recipients, Economic Professor Brooks Herrboldt hosted the Normandale Economics Institute 5th annual Financial Literacy Day. The Keynote Speakers were Brett Machtig and Josh Gronhlolz Capitol Advisory Services, presentation on “A Twenty-Something’s Guide to Financial Freedom.” The grant from United Educators Foundation helped support this successful event at Normandale College.

The United Educators Foundation was established in 2008 to generate and provide contributive funding and resources that advance educational initiatives and to support charitable causes within the education communities UECU serves. The Financial Literacy Grant program was created to help ensure that financial education begins at a young age and to support the educators teaching it in their schools.
