Firefly Credit Union to Host Community Shred Event in May

Firefly Credit Union - BURNSVILLE, Minn. (May 4, 2017) - Firefly Credit Union will host a free community shred event Saturday, May 20, from 9 a.m. to noon. Members of the community can drop by the event to shred up to 2 boxes or bags of sensitive documents for free. Attendees will also have the opportunity to recycled used electronics at the event – likely at no cost*.
The event will take place at the following Firefly Credit Union branch locations:
- Burnsville, 1400 Riverwood Drive
- Bloomington, 2772 E 82nd St.
- Fridley, 6303 Old Central Ave. NE
- Lakeville, 17533 Cedar Ave.
- Maple Grove, 11121 Fountains Drive N
To prevent fraud, the Federal Trade Commission recommends that consumers “shred receipts, credit offers, credit applications, insurance forms, physician statements, checks, bank statements, expired charge cards, and similar documents when [they] don’t need them any longer.”
“At Firefly, we are dedicated to safeguarding our members’ information to protect them from identity theft and scams,” said Bill Raker, Firefly Credit Union President/CEO. “This annual event supplements the solutions our credit union already provides to members to help monitor their accounts. It also encourages those in the community to be proactive about keeping their information safe while helping keep waste out of local landfills.”
