Mayo Employees Federal Credit Union collects books for Mayo Clinic Pediatric Patients and shreds secure documents for recycling
Mayo Employees Federal Credit Union - ROCHESTER, Minn. (November 6, 2017) - Mayo Employees Federal Credit Union (MEFCU) hosted a book drive and offered paper shredding services as part of a Minnesota statewide credit union community service initiative. This is their 3rd annual Caring It Forward Day.
MEFCU employees collected new and gently used children’s books of all ages for Mayo Clinic Volunteer Services for three days. Volunteer Services provides books to Mayo Clinic pediatric patients and their families. After all the books were counted, MEFCU collected 2,111 books in three days!
Also as part of Caring It Forward Day, MEFCU employees hosted a shred day. Over 4.5 tons of secure documents were shredded and recycled in one day, the equivalent of 48 trees saved. Helping members safely destroy and recycle secure information.
When asked about Caring It Forward Day, CEO Mary Hansen stated, “I was genuinely impressed with the outpouring of support shown by our members and staff during the Book Drive! It was our pleasure to partner with the Mayo Volunteer Services area to benefit the pediatric patients and their families.This initiative was part of a credit union state- wide effort to serve their communities and make a difference in the lives of others.”
