Northfield News (February 6, 2018) - Children’s book author and illustrator Nancy Carlson stopped by Tiffany Malecha’s kindergarten classroom at Greenvale Elementary to read, explain the role of authors and illustrators and even draw pictures with the young readers.

Carlson is a life-long Minnesotan. She was born and raised in Edina, where her parents read to her and her brother and sister every night. According to Carlson’s website, her artistic style was heavily inspired by the comic books she read as a child.

Illustrator and author to over 50 books, Carlson hopes that through her books, kids learn to cope with different challenges. They can learn that they don’t have to be perfect to be a good person. Malecha said in an email the author is caring and selfless.

United Educators Credit Union partnered with the class to bring Carlson to Malecha’s classroom.
