Female Credit Union Leaders from Across Minnesota Meet for the Good of the Movement
Yesterday, MnCUN held a Minnesota Credit Union Women’s Leadership Network meeting at Pinstripes in Edina.
During the event, attendees heard from Mayo Employees Federal Credit Union CEO Mary Hansen on her career path as a female credit union CEO, learned tips for developing one’s personal brand from Leadership Coach & Facilitator Lisa Hayes, and networked with other female credit union professionals. Women’s Leadership Network members also made donations to Dress for Success, an international not-for-profit organization that empowers women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire and the development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.
The Minnesota Credit Union Women’s Leadership Network is a local chapter of the Global Women’s Leadership Network established to further Global Women’s Leadership Network’s global mission by making a local impact. The purpose is to convene Minnesota’s women credit union professionals, discuss credit union issues, exchange ideas, network with neighboring credit union leaders, and share lessons learned with Global Women’s Leadership Network members worldwide.

Attend the Crew’s March event to hear Matt Schewe, Vice President of Member Experience at City & County Credit Union, share the fundamentals of emotional intelligence, how it impacts everyone and how to foster emotional intelligence to improve yourself, your workplace and your leadership.
Emotional intelligence (EI) is the capability of individuals to recognize their own, and other people's emotions, discern between different feelings and label them appropriately. EI can be leveraged to guide thinking and behavior, to adapt to a variety of environments and, to put it bluntly, achieve one's goals. Studies have shown that people with high EI have greater mental health, job performance and leadership skills.
The Crew P2P will be held Thursday, March 16 from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Firefly corporate office in Burnsville. Cost of attendance is $25. A conference call option is available for this event and lunch will be provided for in-person attendees. Registration is available online..
Open to young professionals of all levels, The Crew is a networking group made up of young credit union professionals looking to grow in their career and deepen industry ties.

The Minnesota Credit Union Foundation is offering $12,500 in grants to assist Minnesota credit unions in implementing financial education projects. Applications are evaluated on factors such as credit union value, community impact, collaboration and creativity. Applications are being accepted through March 24.

The Minnesota Credit Union Foundation is an organization dedicated to providing the resources for credit unions and communities to prosper and thrive. The committees of the foundation, the Foundation Scholarship Council, formerly the Family Involvement Council, and Minnesota Credit Unions for Kids, will be hosting events at the MnCUN 2017 Annual Conference to support their respective missions.
Foundation Scholarship Council Silent Auction
Foundation Scholarship Council (FSC), will be hosting their annual silent auction throughout the Annual Conference. In honor of their twentieth year as a committee, the FSC has doubled their fundraising goal for 2017. One hundred percent of the funds raised during the silent auction go to Minnesota credit union members who are looking to further their education. Since 1997, the FSC has reviewed 14,358 applications and awarded $166,500 in scholarships to 303 credit union members. Information about contributing silent auction items and monetary donations to the FSC is available online.
Minnesota CU4Kids Mingle for Miracle
Scheduled for Thursday, April 20 at the Radisson Blu Mall of America, the Mingle for Miracles event provides a networking opportunity for credit union professionals, volunteers, and vendors as well as a chance to support Gillette Children’s Specialty Healthcare, which helps kids with disabilities and chronic conditions. Beginning at 7:30 p.m., attendees are invited to participate in friendly casino gaming, prize drawings, and light appetizers. Participation is free and open to all Annual Conference registrants and exhibitors. Please RSVP on the Annual Conference registration form. While both of these committees focus on different initiatives, they share the Minnesota Credit Union Foundation’s goal of helping credit unions and communities to flourish and grow. As you prepare for the 2017 Annual Meeting, remember to include these events on your schedule.
