Help consumers find your CU by adding and updating aSmarterChoice information

Consumers across the country continue to discover credit unions – the smarter choice in the financial industry!

aSmarterChoice.org uses news stories and member testimonials to educate consumers about credit unions. The national credit union locator on the site enables users to quickly and successfully find a credit union in their area. In addition, this website offers free marketing resources that credit unions can use to promote this valuable tool.

In 2015, consumers who used aSmarterChoice clicked on search result links to individual Minnesota credit unions approximately 2,000 times. To maintain that momentum, credit unions need to update their own information within the locator to ensure that it’s accurate and comprehensive. Take the time to review information posted for your credit union on the website. To edit your profile, visit aSmarterChoice.org's update your records page or contact Scott Shoberg at the Network office for login

Family Involvement Council Silent Auction

In 2015 the Family Involvement Council (FIC) raised $8,518 at its silent auction held during the Minnesota Credit Union Network’s Annual Meeting. This year the FIC is looking to raise even more! All funds raised go toward the FIC Scholarship to assist members pursuing post-secondary education.

One hundred percent of the funds raised during the silent auction go to Minnesota credit union members who are looking to further their education. Since 1997 FIC has raised and distributed $156,500. For more information on donating items to the silent auction visit the FIC website. Contact Bridget Petersen of SPIRE Credit Union with questions.

While both of these committees focus on different initiatives, they share the Minnesota Credit Union Foundation’s goal of helping credit unions and communities to flourish and grow. As you prepare for the 2016 Annual Meeting, remember to include these events on your schedule!

The FIC Bids Farewell to Former FIC Members

 The FIC awarded Molnau (top)
and Mound (bottom) with
 commemorative plaques
honoring their service.

The MN Family Involvement Council (FIC) has presented two committee members with service recognition plaques.

  • Andrea Molnau joined the FIC in 2002, most recently serving as Vice Chair; she has also held the positon of Secretary. Andrea was an integral part of the FIC’s scholarship program, silent auction and other key initiatives throughout her 13-year tenure on the FIC. A committed and enthusiastic supporter of their mission and pillar of the committee, Andrea was named 2012 FIC Volunteer of the Year.
  • Missy Mound joined the FIC in 2012, and spearheaded the committee’s electronic scholarship application process, working to collect and analyze scholarship data. Throughout her 4-year tenure, Missy was involved in scholarship judging and the FIC’s annual silent auction fundraiser.  Missy was honored with the 2013 FIC Volunteer of the Year award.

“Both of these ladies live and breathe the credit union philosophy of people-helping-people,” says Bridget Petersen, FIC Chair, “They were valued members of our team and will be deeply missed by all of us.”

Thank you for your accomplishments and contributions to the FIC and Minnesota’s credit unions!
