Advocate, Educate, Inspire: Minnesota’s Credit Unions gather for 2016 Annual Conference
This week, over 400 credit union professionals, volunteers and vendors from across Minnesota and the country are gathering for the 2016 Minnesota Credit Union Network Annual Conference.
Yesterday, attendees advocated for credit unions during meetings with their local legislators. During face-to-face meetings, representatives from Minnesota’s not-for-profit financial institutions discussed credit unions commitment to their communities, need for common-sense patent reform, and the importance of protecting lien holder rights.
The three-day conference will continue today and tomorrow with education sessions, networking opportunities, an awards breakfast, and the state’s largest credit union exhibit hall.
Conference speakers include:
“The Minnesota Credit Union Network Annual Conference is a great example of the cooperative nature of credit unions,” said MnCUN President & CEO Mark Cummins. “This year, representatives from 72 credit unions have come together to advocate for the industry and seek new ways to best serve their members’ financial needs.”

16 credit union members receive scholarships from the Family Involvement Council
The Family Involvement Council (FIC), a committee of the Minnesota Credit Union Foundation, strives to build credit union brand awareness and strengthen member relationships through its scholarship program. The FIC has announced recipients of $10,000 in scholarships to 16 credit union members for the 2016-2017 school year.
FIC Scholarships are available to all members of Network affiliated credit unions and are funded by the FIC Silent Auction held at the Network Annual Conference.
Congratulations to the following winners:
“We had a great response to our scholarship program this year with nearly 850 scholarship applications,” said Bridget Petersen, FIC Chair. “The quality of applicants we have each year makes it clear that our members care about their education and highly value being a credit union member-owner.”
Information about the 2017 scholarship program will be available in late August or early September.
With questions, contact FIC Chair Bridget Petersen by email or by phone at (651) 641-2256.
