CEO Conference – Last Chance to Register

Registration is now open for the annual MnCUN CEO Conference being held Wednesday, June 7 through Friday, June 9 at The Inn on Lake Superior in Duluth. Exclusively for credit union CEOs, this event will provide a supportive environment that will facilitate discussion on the issues, obstacles and opportunities facing you and your staff. 

 

The conference will feature a variety of speakers and networking opportunities. In addition, the education component of the conference will examine many of the unique issues facing credit unions in Minnesota.

Upcoming Business Intelligence Peer-to-Peer Session

Credit union professionals from all departments and levels are invited to join MnCUN staff at the upcoming Business Intelligence Peer-to-Peer (P2P) session on Wednesday, June 21 at the Network office in St. Paul. The P2P is designed for both credit unions currently engaging business intelligence technologies and those looking to begin.

 

Business Intelligence (BI) is usually defined set of methodologies, processes, architectures, and technologies that leverage the output of information management processes for analysis, reporting, performance management, and information delivery. More simply stated, BI is the process organizations use to make better use of data to improve decision making quality.

P2Ps provide credit union professionals the opportunity to participate in cooperative meetings to network and exchange ideas. A full list of upcoming P2P sessions can be found on the MnCUN calendar online.

 


 

Minnesota Credit Union Foundation Partners with Girls Scouts for Mad City Money Life Simulation

The Minnesota Credit Union Foundation and the Girl Scouts of the River Valley teamed up to provide Girl Scouts from throughout the metro area a chance to participate in Mad City Money, a financial literacy simulation similar to real-life.

Over 70 girl scouts in grades 6 through 11, from all over Minnesota and Western Wisconsin, participated in the event, which was put on by the Minnesota Credit Union Foundation and 30 credit union volunteers representing 13 credit unions and the Minnesota Credit Union Network.

During this action packed, real life simulation, participants practiced budgeting as an adult with realistic circumstances like student loan debt, credit card debt, and the cost of medical insurance. The girls built a monthly budget based on their assigned incomes and family situations. They visited merchants in Mad City to purchase housing, transportation, food, day care and other needs, and visited the “Wheel of Fate” to face the unknown and unexpected windfalls and expenses that adult life brings.

With guidance from the experts from Minnesota’s Credit Unions, the girls experienced making decisions that helped or hindered their success, and worked towards earning a Budgeting, Financing My Future, or On My Own badge.

 

MnCU Jr. Financial education app - coming soon!

The Minnesota Credit Union Foundation has partnered with HT Mobile Apps to bring their financial education platform, Member Jr., to Minnesota. Through this partnership, MnCUF will be able to offer a Foundation branded MnCU Jr. App, along with great customized options in various cost structures to all sizes of our member credit unions.

MnCUF strives to provide resources for credit unions and communities to prosper and thrive. With a focus on Financial Literacy, the Foundation is excited about this new opportunity for credit unions and your young members. Our goal is to reach 10,000 Minnesota kids with the app by 2020.

Join us for an informational webinar on June 1 to learn more about how you can offer this great program to your youngest members while supporting the Minnesota Credit Union Foundation. We are offering two webinar times, choose the one that pertains to your credit unions’ asset size.
