Minnesota CU4Kids Golf Tournament raises $33K for Gillette children's Specialty Healthcare

The 22nd Annual Minnesota Credit Unions for Kids Golf Tournament saw a record number of golfers, and a near-record amount raised for Gillette Children’s Specialty Healthcare. The June 14 event drew 115 golfers and was supported by dozens of credit unions and credit union partners. Tournament proceeds netted $23,619, of which $10,000 will be matched by CO-OP Financial Services’ Miracle Match program.

While the dollars raised were not a record, it was one of the top-performing tournaments hosted by Minnesota Credit Unions for Kids in the last decade.

“We are so grateful for the hard work of the committee and the generosity of Minnesota’s credit union industry,” said Becky Holst, Development Officer for CMN Hospitals, “It’s a clear demonstration of the people helping people mission.”

In addition to the golf tournament, Minnesota Credit Unions for Kids organizes a handful of fundraisers each year including Chain of Hearts, Annual Meeting Mixer/Casino Night, and the Bowl-O-Rama. The committee also encourages credit unions to initiate their own fundraisers such as miracle jeans days and cookouts. Funds raised at these events may also be matched by CO-OP Financial Services. For more information, visit the Minnesota CU4Kids website.

The Credit Unions for Kids Golf Committee consists of: Becky Holst, Gillette Children's Specialty Healthcare; Megan Primeau, City & County Credit Union; Lynn Meisner, North Memorial Federal Credit Union; Dave Engler, Hiway Federal Credit Union; Marnie Galston, Mid-Minnesota Federal Credit Union; Brad Scholl, Minnco Credit Union; and Marty Kelly, Firefly Credit Union.

Buy A Blizzard® Treat, Make A Miracle on July 27

For more than 10 years, the DQ system has celebrated Miracle Treat Day. In 2016, thanks to the generosity of local DQ stores, over $4 million was donated to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals across the United States and Canada. These donations help provide support for over 32 million patient visits each year to local Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

Minnesota Credit Unions for Kids (CU4Kids) is encouraging credit unions across the state to participate in the upcoming Miracle Treat Day on Thursday, July 27.

On this day, $1 or more from every Blizzard® Treat purchased at participating Dairy Queen stores will be donated to Gillette Children's Specialty Healthcare, Minnesota's Children's Miracle Network-designated hospital. Gillette, which helps kids with disabilities and chronic conditions, is based in St. Paul, with outreach clinics located around the state.

Mark your calendars for the special day to thank your staff or involve your family and friends. To find a participating DQ store, enter your zip code into the finder located on the Miracle Treat Day website

pre-order form is available online.
