MnCUN urges maximizing your membership, highlights mid-year 2017 activities & accomplishments
Throughout the year, MnCUN is dedicated to accomplishing a wide variety of strategic initiatives geared toward creating an environment for credit unions to grow. These activities include: providing strong advocacy on the legislative, regulatory, and public awareness fronts; offering regulatory compliance support; supplying education and networking opportunities; and fostering cooperation and unity among the industry.
At the mid-point of 2017, we wanted to give you – our members – an update on the activities that the Network has engaged in on your behalf.

The strength of the Minnesota credit union movement is represented by the partnership between the Network and our member credit unions, along with our dedication to working cooperatively to advocate for more than 1.7 million credit union members across the state. We appreciate the privilege of serving you and working with you to meet industry challenges and opportunities. Deadline Extended – Discounted Tickets Available for Credit Union Day at the St. Paul Saints
Join credit unions from across Minnesota at CHS Field on Thursday, July 27 for credit union night at the Saint Paul Saints game. A limited number of discounted tickets are available for credit unions to purchase for their staff, volunteers or members at $15 per ticket.
MnCUN is providing discounted tickets to credit unions through the end of the day this Friday, July 14. Tickets can be ordered online. Additional tickets can be purchased directly from the Saint Paul Saints website.
The first 1,000 fans to the game will receive a free Minnesota Credit Union/Saints branded piggy bank. Additional credit union themed activities and promotions are planned including an Awareness campaign video and signage.
The Minnesota credit union Saint Paul Saints game sponsorship was made possible through an in-kind donation to the Minnesota Credit Union Network Awareness Campaign by SPIRE Credit Union. For information on contributing to the awareness campaign, visit the informational page on the Network website.

The Minnesota Credit Union Women’s Leadership Network will be holding their next meeting in conjunction with the 2017 Fall Leadership Conference from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 8, in Brainerd. The event will include a luncheon, panel discussion, and presentation by Leadership Coach & Facilitator Lisa Hayes.
The Minnesota Credit Union Women’s Leadership Network is a local chapter of the Global Women’s Leadership Network established to further Global Women’s Leadership Network’s global mission by making a local impact. The purpose is to convene Minnesota’s women credit union professionals, discuss credit union issues, exchange ideas, network with neighboring credit union leaders, and share lessons learned with Global Women’s Leadership Network members worldwide.
Credit union supporters are encouraged to nominate individuals and organizations for the Herb Wegner Memorial Awards to be presented by the National Credit Union Foundation (the Foundation). Winners will be honored at the Foundation’s annual awards dinner on February 26, 2018 in conjunction with the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) Governmental Affairs Conference (GAC) in Washington, D.C.
“The Foundation’s Wegner Awards are widely considered the highest national honors in the credit union movement,’” said Danielle Brown, Foundation Director of Donor Relations and Development. “We encourage you to nominate individuals and organizations whose achievements fulfill the mission of promoting financial freedom for people everywhere.”
