Nominations open until Feb. 3 for Annual Award Programs

MnCUN is now accepting nominations for its most prestigious awards! Now is your chance to nominate a colleague for the Outstanding Professional of the Year or Outstanding Volunteer of the Year.

  • Outstanding Professional of the Year recognizes the notable service of one outstanding credit union professional who has selflessly given time, effort and talent to the support and promotion of the credit union mission and who has gone above and beyond to improve the credit union culture in Minnesota.
  • Outstanding Volunteer of the Year is given to one extraordinary credit union volunteer who best exemplifies the credit union spirit through dedication to, and belief in, the credit union movement. Grounds for nomination include involvement in the credit union movement at local and state levels and participation in other activities that support the credit union mission.

Nominations for the awards must be received by the Network by Friday, Feb. 3, 2017. Complete information and online nomination forms can be found on the Recognition Awards page of the Network website. Please note that only nominations completed using the online forms will be accepted.

 The winners of these awards are recognized during the Minnesota Credit Union Network Annual Meeting & Convention, which takes place April 20 & 21, 2017 at Radisson Blu Mall of America, Bloomington.

Minnesota Credit Union Women’s Leadership Network Feb. 15 Event

On Wednesday, Feb, 15, MnCUN will be holding a Minnesota Credit Union Women’s Leadership Network meeting at Pinstripes in Edina. The event is schedule from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event will feature: a presentation by Lisa Hayes, leadership coach and facilitator; lunch; and time for networking.

 

Program topics will include:

 

  • Mary Hanson, CEO Mayo Employees Federal Credit Union - Mary will share her career journey to become the CEO of the eight largest credit union in Minnesota.
  • Developing Your Personal Brand - In today’s work environment, building a brand that stands out from the crowd is not only important but key to career growth. When others think of you, what comes to mind? Does it match with what you want? Personal branding is about developing a personal marketing campaign that is unique to you. 

 

Donations encouraged for Dress for Success - accessory and clothing drives help to support our Business Attire Program. Your donations allow us to suit women professionally and boost their confidence. They accept donations from size 00-5X. In addition to traditional business attire, they are always in need of handbags, shoes and jewelry, winter coats, hats, and gloves.

$10,000 In Scholarships Available – Application Closing Feb. 1

The Foundation Scholarship Council (FSC), formerly the Family Involvement Council (FIC), is currently accepting applications for their 2017 scholarship program. This year, the council will be awarding $10,000 in the form of four $1,000 and 12 $500 scholarships to a total of 16 credit union members.  Any member of a Minnesota Credit Union Network affiliated credit union pursuing post-secondary education in the fall 2017/spring 2018 is eligible to apply.

 

Applications are being accepted online with a submission deadline of Wednesday, Feb. 1.

 

Each year at the MnCUN Annual Meeting, the FSC holds a silent auction with items and monetary donations donated by Minnesota’s credit unions and businesses. One hundred percent of the proceeds from the silent auction go toward the scholarship programs.

 

The FSC, a committee of the Minnesota Credit Union Foundation, strives to build credit union brand awareness and strengthen member relationships through their scholarship program. Since its inauguration in 1997, the FSC has benefited 303 credit union members with $166,500 in scholarships.
