Credit Union News
Earlier this week the Minnesota Credit Union Network sent a holiday greeting to thank those it has worked with over the past year and to recognize the impact its supporters have made on the credit union movement.
By working together, credit unions were able to accomplish significant goals in 2013 and have formed a solid foundation for growth and success in 2014. To view the holiday greeting, click on MnCUN Holiday Message.
During the holiday season, MnCUN will be closed the afternoon of Tuesday, Dec. 24, and on Wednesday, Dec. 25, along with Wednesday, Jan. 1.

Are you a credit union professional under the age of 35? Join The Crew!
If you are a credit union professional 35 and under, you are invited to join The Crew, MnCUN’s young professionals networking group. This group is made up of mid-level, young credit union professionals who are looking for the opportunity to grow in their career.
The Crew is open to young professionals of all levels, including those new to the credit union movement or those seeking to establish deeper industry ties. Crew members will learn about the credit union industry, explore options for advancement, and network with other young professionals.
Those attending Crew events held in conjunction with MnCUN’s major credit union conferences – like Credit Union Day at the Capitol and the Annual Meeting – will receive discounts off the conference admission price and will have the opportunity to experience these events in a unique way. In addition to participating in the conferences’ standard activities and educational opportunities, Crew members will have "special access” to speakers, legislators and other key credit union leaders, along with opportunities to participate in unique programs.
As 2013 ends, it's a great opportunity to start thinking about professional development opportunities next year. MnCUN’s online
The Network has a full slate of educational opportunities planned for 2014. Credit union professionals and volunteers will be able to learn online through webinars and network with others in the movement during MnCUN's roundtables.
Webinars On Demand enable individuals to learn at their own time and place and share the training with others in their office.
The Network's major conferences provide in-depth learning opportunities in the areas of lending, political involvement, supervisory committee effectiveness and more.
To view next year's slate of educational opportunities, visit the Event Calendar page of the Network website. Complete session information is posted approximately four to six weeks prior to each education opportunity.
Associated Healthcare Credit Union (AHCU) has designated Judy (Root) Greff a Credit Union Builder through the Minnesota Credit Union Foundation. In celebrating a career in the credit union industry that spans more than 30 years, AHCU honored Greff on her impending retirement on Dec. 31.
AHCU was the last stop in Greff’s career, where she worked on its successful merger with Bluestone Federal Credit Union in 2011. In addition, she led the following credit unions:
"Judy has been a pillar of the credit union community during a very successful career, and we at Associated Healthcare Credit Union are pleased to have worked alongside her for the past few years,” said AHCU President & CEO Jerry Ziegler. "Her commitment and dedication to the credit union industry are appreciated and will be remembered.”
Greff was actively involved in the credit union movement, serving on the Minnesota Credit Union Foundation Board of Directors for six years. She also was active with the Minnesota Credit Union Network, including Credit Union for Kids, Awards Committee, the Nominating/Elections Committee, and as a member of GREAT (Grass Roots Education & Action Team). She also provided personal finance education for women in the Eagan Homeless Shelter, served on the board of directors for the Minnesota Credit Union Foundation from 2004-2010, was active in the River Cities Chapter of Credit Unions.
"I feel especially privileged to be able to honor Judy in this way, as one of our own – a former Foundation Board member – who was a voice around the table when we established the Credit Union Builder Award in 2008,” said MnCUF Chair Pat Brekken. "I thank Judy for her time and dedication to the industry and am honored to bestow upon her the prestigious title of Credit Union Builder.”
Greff joins 23 other individuals who have been honored over the past six years with the MnCUF's Credit Union Builder Award. The names of the recipients and the contributing credit unions are permanently displayed in the Minnesota Credit Union Network's lobby as a tribute to their accomplishments. To learn more about MnCUF’s Credit Union Builder Award and to view a list of those who have been honored with this recognition, visit the Foundation website (www.mncufoundation.org/cubuilder).
