Join fellow Credit Union Board members from across the state for the inaugural Minnesota Credit Union Directors Conference—a dedicated two-day experience designed exclusively for credit union directors. Set in the vibrant setting of the Mall of America, this new event offers fresh insights, peer connections, and practical tools to help you lead with confidence in today’s evolving financial landscape.

Welcome
Conference kick-off with remarks from Mara Humphrey, President & CEO, Minnesota Credit Union Network, and Pat Pierce, Board Chair of America’s Credit Unions. Together, they’ll set the stage for the conference by highlighting the importance of strong board leadership and the cooperative strength of the credit union movement.

General Session: The Credit Union Difference – Board Leadership in a Member-Centered Movement – Andrea Molnau, Minnesota Credit Union Foundation
Interactive session exploring the cooperative principles that define the credit union model—and how board members can champion the mission in an evolving financial landscape.

Session 1: Board Best Practices for the Dynamics of a 21st Century Pace – Kevin Smith, TEAM Resources
The pace of our world demands that credit union boards of directors find ways to keep up, and to do away with “that’s-how-we’ve-always-done-it” mentalities. Kevin Smith of TEAM Resources will share with you the approaches he’s gathered from high performing boards over 20 years in work with credit unions. These best practices and 21st century governance approaches will help you to create alignment, promote high performance, and establish accountability guardrails for a dynamic and flexible board. These are not rigid regulations, but malleable theories that you will customize for your organization.

Keynote: The Board’s Role in Strategic Visioning and Strategic Planning: Navigating Change with Vision, Confidence, and Best Practice Governance - Deedee Myers, DDJ Myers, An ALM First Company
In the evolving landscape of credit unions, board members are called upon to lead with foresight, adaptability, and purpose. This session is designed to empower board members by providing them with the tools and mindset necessary to effectively step into their fiduciary responsibility in deciding and steering their organizations through strategic challenges and opportunities. Attendees will engage in conversations that challenge conventional thinking and encourage proactive strategic planning; examine case studies of credit unions that have successfully navigated strategic transitions, highlighting lessons learned and best practices; and walk away with a set of practical tools and strategies that can be immediately applied to enhance board effectiveness and organizational success.
