The Financial Education Subcommittee supports the Minnesota Credit Union Foundation’s strategic focus to expand statewide financial education and financial well-being impact. The subcommittee provides practitioner-led guidance to help credit unions build meaningful community/district/school relationships, elevate proven tools and partnerships, and strengthen the Foundation’s grantmaking and programs that improve financial capability across Minnesota.

Who should apply
Credit union professionals who are actively involved in (or interested in expanding) community financial education, school-based outreach, and financial well-being programming are encouraged to apply. To reflect the statewide credit union system, the Foundation especially welcomes applicants from a mix of asset sizes, geographies, and charter types, as well as those who can bring lived experience with partnerships serving diverse communities.
Time commitment
Members should expect to participate in quarterly virtual meetings, occasional working groups for resource review, and timely feedback cycles aligned with grant and program planning throughout the year.
Appointment Process
The Minnesota Credit Union Foundation Board will appoint 7-9 individuals to the committee.
Initial responsibilities will include:
- Recommend and help curate centralized, shareable financial education resources for Minnesota credit unions.
- Identify gaps and opportunities for statewide collaboration (e.g., school relations, reality fairs, classroom resources, community partners) and share replicable practices.
- Review and recommend updates to the Foundation’s Financial Education Grant program and/or propose additional funding mechanisms that advance measurable financial well-being outcomes.
- Help elevate success stories and implementation learnings that can be shared across the movement.

- Marketing/communications professionals supporting community partnerships and outreach
- Business development/community relations staff building school district and community organization relationships
- Branch, retail, or operations leaders implementing financial education events and volunteer programs
- Certified financial counselors/FiCEP participants, CUDEs, or staff involved in coaching/counseling initiatives
