MnCUN Annual Conference Speaker Highlight: Matt Birk
The Minnesota Credit Union Network Credit Union Day at the Capitol and Annual Conference will be held Wednesday, April 4 through Friday April 6, at the Radisson Blu Mall of America in Bloomington. This meeting offers opportunities for exhibitors and credit union professionals alike. Attended by more than 300 credit union CEOs, senior executives, staff and volunteers annually, this conference also offers the state's largest credit union exhibit hall.
Matt Birk will speak during the Annual Conference luncheon on Friday, April 5. Birk is a former American football center. He was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in the sixth round of the 1998 NFL Draft, and later played for the Baltimore Ravens. He played college football at Harvard. Birk is a two-time All-Pro, six-time Pro Bowl selection, and one-time Super Bowl champion.
During his speech, What Makes Teams Great, Birk will discuss how competition in the NFL relates to the real world. League attempts to level the playing field by legislating parity and fixing almost all the variables. Get an insider's look as to why and how some teams have a competitive advantage, year after year.
Full meeting details, a schedule of events, and registration can be found on the Annual Conference page of the MnCUN website.

Held on January 26, the Minnesota Credit Union Foundation Scholarship Council’s second Dice & Ice Event raised over $13,000. The event saw a 34 percent increase in attendance from last year, with nearly 100 participants representing 16 credit unions, 9 vendors and the Minnesota Credit Union Network. All funds raised during the event will be used to provide scholarships to Minnesota’s credit union members.
Dice & Ice Participants competed as teams, playing a variety of dice-related games. Live auction items and a wide variety of raffle prizes were also awarded.
“Thank you to all who participated, sponsored and donated to make the Dice & Ice event a success,” said Council Chair Bridget Petersen. “The council doubled their fundraising goal in 2017 to celebrate 20 years of service. With the success of this event, we hope to raise another $20,000 for credit union members in 2018.”
The Council’s signature event, the Silent Auction, will take place during the Minnesota Credit Union Network Annual Conference being held April 4 through 6 in Bloomington. More information about the Foundation Scholarship Council is available on the Minnesota Credit Union Foundation website.
