Hiway Federal Credit Union - ST. PAUL, Minn. (February 28, 2017) - The Hiway Gold Puck was found Saturday, February 25th in Woodbury’s Carver Lake Park by Steve and Jeannie Worthman of Saint Paul, MN.  The married couple found the puck, hidden in a free-trade coffee bag, after just one clue posted on Friday morning.  Steve Worthman located the puck for the second year in a row.

The Worthmans’ will receive approximately $6,300 for finding the puck, courtesy of Hiway Federal Credit Union.  That’s the cash equivalent* of a 5.5 oz. official National Hockey League puck in gold.

Steve Worthman is an avid treasure hunter and previous finder of the Saint Paul Winter Carnival Medallion.  Besides locating the gold puck last year, Worthman found the medallion during the 2015 Winter Carnival.

“The first clue indicated the puck was in Washington County.  There are only a handful of parks in the county that don’t require vehicle permits to enter.   Carver Lake is one of them.  My wife and I took a guess, explored the park for good hiding areas and just got really, really lucky,” said Steve Worthman.

“We congratulate Steve and Jeannie for locating the puck after just one clue,” said David Boden, Hiway President/CEO. “They’re obviously brilliant treasure hunters.  We hope they plan to deposit their winnings in a Hiway Federal Credit Union account!”

An explanation of each clue is available at hiway.org/goldpuck.
