Mill City Credit Union Awards $1,000 to Local Do-Gooder

Mill City Credit Union - MINNETONKA, Minn. (June 8, 2018) - Mill City Credit Union (CU) has announced the winner of its most recent Making the Greater Good Even Greater give-back campaign. The winner, non-profit organization Gigi’s Playhouse, was awarded $1,000 from the credit union.
GiGi’s Playhouse Down Syndrome Achievement Center’s mission is to change the way the world views Down syndrome through national campaigns, educational programs, and by empowering individuals with Down syndrome, their families and the community. They offer free therapeutic and educational programming to individuals with Down syndrome and their families.
Kristen Sweet, Site Director at Gigi’s Playhouse, remarks: “We are honored to receive the Greater Good award and will be using the $1,000 to go toward our upcoming 5K, Cody’s Dash for Down Syndrome, on June 16 at Central Park in Hopkins. The money raised at the event will help us to continue offering free programming to individuals with Down syndrome and their families. We have served over 600 families in the Twin Cities but want to reach many more in the coming years!”
About Making the Greater Good Even Greater
Making the Greater Good Even Greater is a campaign that honors the credit union philosophy of “people helping people” and inspires charitable giving throughout the Twin Cities area. Community members can nominate their favorite non-profit or small business through Mill City CU’s Greater Good program webpage. Nominations are accepted year-round, and eligible nominees are entered into a Facebook contest. The non-profit and small business with the most likes at the end of a specified voting period are declared the winners and awarded $1,000 each. Since August 2015, Mill City CU has awarded nearly $31,000 to 19 non-profits and 16 small businesses through the campaign.
To be eligible, small businesses or non-profit organizations must have total net revenue of less than
$500,000 on their last IRS filing or an IRS 501c3 tax exemption status. They must also operate in Carver, Hennepin, McLeod, Meeker, or Wright County. Additional details can be found online.
