Minnesota Valley Federal Credit Union Remembers George Patchin as a Credit Union Builder

ST. PAUL, Minn. – Minnesota Valley Federal Credit Union has designated George Patchin as a Credit Union Builder through the Minnesota Credit Union Foundation. Created in 2008, the Credit Union Builder Award honors an individual’s dedication to the success, growth, and vitality of the not-for-profit financial movement in Minnesota.
George Patchin served on the Minnesota Valley Federal Credit Union board of directors from 1970 - 2018. During his tenure, he served as Treasure and leader of the Elections, he also participated in the Facilities and Asset and Liability Management committees. George was instrumental in growing the credit union from $10 million in assets and 1,00 members to $170 million and 15,000 members. In 2008, George received the Volunteer of the Year Award through the Minnesota Credit Union Network. Outside of the credit union, George taught Business Education from 1969 to retirement in 1994 at Mankato and Mankato East High School.
“George was a dedicated and active champion of the credit union movement,” said Minnesota Valley Federal Credit Union President & CEO Nick Meyer. “We are thankful for the decades he dedicated to the credit union and its members.”
George Patchin passed away on June 18, 2018.
In total, 59 individuals have been designated as Credit Union Builders over the past nine years. The names of the recipients and the contributing credit unions are permanently displayed in the Minnesota Credit Union Network’s lobby as a tribute to those who have dedicated time and energy to building the credit union movement.
