Unite to Spread Kindness on the 2019 CU FORWARD Day
Tuesday, June 4, 2019
On Monday, October 14, Minnesota’s credit unions will continue the tradition of doing what we do best – collaborating and cooperating with one another to spread kindness in the communities we serve.
CU FORWARD Day is a day when credit unions come together to spread kindness and demonstrate the “people helping people” philosophy with the cooperative principles in action. Held annually on the second Monday of October, credit unions are encouraged to participate by selecting a giveback opportunity that means the most to their staff and community.
In 2018, credit unions across Minnesota dedicated the day to community service projects and volunteer opportunities that impacted over 335,000 Minnesotans. 47 Credit Unions and partners across Minnesota volunteered more than 5,000 hours.
CU FORWARD Day giveback opportunities have taken different forms. For example, credit union staff have gone out to participate in community enhancement projects, volunteer with nonprofits, and given thanks to local service organizations, while others have remained onsite to host community shred days, food drives, give-back campaigns and commit random acts of kindness with members in their branches.
The Minnesota Credit Union Network coordinates credit union involvement, provides best practices and resources and organizes media coverage throughout the state.
MnCUN has contacted the designated project coordinator for 2018 CU Forward Day participants. If your credit union did not participate in 2018, and would like more information, or to designate a project coordinator, please contact MnCUN Director of Engagement Ben Hering by email or by phone at 651-288-5519.
