MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Minnesota’s Credit Unions have partnered with Indeed Brewing Company and The Freehouse to create an exclusive beer for the Minnesota State Fair - The Great Minnesota Handshake, a strawberry milkshake cream ale. This sessionable cream ale comes in at 5.5%, brewed with strawberry, vanilla, and cream, and will be available only at The Blue Barn.
“Minnesota’s Credit Unions and Minnesota’s Craft Brewers have a lot in common - both are local, connected to communities, and invested in people,” Minnesota Credit Union Network President Mark Cummins said. “The State Fair is the Great Minnesota Get Together and we are excited to bring Minnesotans together in the spirit of giving back and starting new traditions with a friendly handshake.”
$1 per cup sold at the Minnesota State Fair will fund financial literacy initiatives through the Minnesota Credit Union Foundation.
"The Great Minnesota Handshake is just that—a friendly business handshake between two breweries and a foundation to raise awareness about financial literacy through a delicious, iconic Minnesota State Fair-exclusive beer." Stephanie Shimp, Blue Plate Restaurant Company owner said. “Being the Blue Barn, we were inspired by the milk barns at the fair and their iconic milkshakes. So, we landed on a strawberry milkshake cream ale—something delicious, drinkable and fun!"
The Great Minnesota Handshake will be pouring only at The Blue Barn located in the West End Market for all 12 days of the State Fair.
"When the Minnesota Credit Union Foundation approached us to partner creatively with them and collaborate with Freehouse on a State Fair beer, we jumped," says Tom Whisenand, owner of Indeed Brewing Company. "Indeed is more than just beers sold―in our craft beer community, we're lucky to find partners that help us find new ways to give back while keeping beer what it should be―drinkable and fun."
The Minnesota State Fair will be held from August 22nd to September 2nd at the Minnesota State Fair Grounds in St. Paul.
