St. Cloud Financial Credit Union - ST. CLOUD, Minn. (Nov. 4, 2019) -St. Cloud Financial Credit Union closed its branches on Columbus Day to participate in its fifth annual Community Day of giving, designed to make a difference in the community. The credit union asked its members, and an employee-led team to determine the locations for the organization to donate time.
Six local non-profit organizations were selected, of which nearly 70 employees participated:
- Quiet Oaks Hospice assisting in fall clean-up, as well as helping to clean the facility.
- Becky’s Troop Care Packages helping assemble and create care packages for military troops overseas.
- Habitat for Humanity in Sauk Rapids working on a Veteran’s home.
- Pathways 4 Youth to help homeless youth in helping to clean the facility.
- Compassion Connection to help sort and organize donations for families who are taking in foster children.
- Family Youth Community Connections (FYCC) to organize donated books and clothing for events.
All rooted in Central Minnesota, the credit union was proud to give back to a variety of organizations who make a difference in the community. The organization’s theme for the Community Day was, Passion Driven. Community Focused. This theme played out well with like-minded non-profits who provide services to help people in different ways ranging from hospice services, to troops, to helping house foster children, and an organization that helps with homeless youth.
“Our annual Community Day was established as part of our mission to make a meaningful difference for our members, our employees, and our communities. We know we accomplished that on our Community Day!” stated Jed A. Meyer, St. Cloud Financial Credit Union President and CEO. “Our employees are full of passion to make a difference, and I was proud to serve beside them as we helped local non-profits,” stated Meyer.
St. Cloud Financial Credit Union is proud to continue its annual Community Day, and to participate in giving back with other credit unions in what is now an annual tradition. Around the state, 49 credit unions volunteered more than 5,000 hours of community service – an active demonstration of the industry’s philosophy of “People Helping People.”
