Call to Serve: ABEP Board of Directors

The Association for Black Economic Power (ABEP) is looking for applicants with credit union experience to serve on the Board of Directors.
The Board of Directors of The Association for Black Economic Power (ABEP) currently seats a Board chair and Treasurer. There are currently five total open director seats on the board, that the board plans to fill by the end of the year 2019. These terms will last for one-year. The primary purpose of this board is to provide governance and oversight to the process of establishing Village Financial Cooperative, along with fiduciary responsive oversight and maintenance over the non-profits financials, as well as keep the non-profit aligned with the organizations mission and vision.
Mission: Transform local communities by equipping Black people with powerful economic tools and resources that are cooperative, equitable, and culturally relevant.
Vision: Black liberation through cooperative and economic renaissance.
Board members can expect to spend approximately 8-10 hours a month through Q1, engaging in their ABEP Board role. Throughout the month, you can expect to spend those hours engaging in the following priorities:
- Bi-Weekly 90-minute Board Meeting [3hrs]
- Monthly Community Forum [3hrs]
- Communications, External Meetings, Misc. Support Work [2-4 hours]
- Annual Retreat
