Hiway Federal Credit Union  – ST. PAUL, MN (April 8, 2016) – Hiway Federal Credit Union (Hiway) has been honored with the 2016 Simon Hellermann Award. The award, sponsored by the Minnesota Credit Union Network (MnCUN), was last awarded in 2006 and recognizes demonstrated excellence in credit union philanthropy and contributions to the credit union movement in Minnesota. The award was established in 1999 as a tribute to Minnesota credit union philanthropist Simon Hellermann, and honors those outstanding contributions by an individual, credit union or group to a humanitarian cause.

MnCUN presented Hiway with the Simon Hellermann Award and a video tribute at their Annual Meeting on Friday, April 1. Hiway was honored for their longstanding commitment and contributions to Credit Unions for Kids, which raises funds to support Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) and Gillette Children’s Specialty Healthcare. Hiway has supported Minnesota’s Credit Union for Kids chapter since its inception, and was recently recognized for raising over $410,000 since 1997.

“The Minnesota Credit Union Network is pleased to honor Hiway Federal Credit Union for their tremendous contributions to Credit Unions for Kids and the credit union movement,” said Mark Cummins, MnCUN President & CEO. “Their dedication is inspiring, and I congratulate them on receiving this well-deserved award.”

“We are very honored to receive this award from the Minnesota Credit Union Network for our philanthropic efforts,” said Dave Boden, President/CEO of Hiway. “I’m very proud of our wonderful associates for all they’ve done over the years to support CMN and Gillette Children’s Specialty Healthcare.
