Affinity Plus Federal Credit Union – ST. PAUL, MINN. (April 6, 2016) – In March, Affinity Plus Federal Credit Union began offering Samsung Pay and Android Pay for its members. These mobile payment options will provide compatible Galaxy and Android OS users a convenient and secure way to store their Affinity Plus Visa debit and credit card information to make purchases, without swiping their card, at participating retailers.

“We’re excited to be able to offer this service to our members,” states Dave Larson, president and CEO. “Over the past few years, Affinity Plus has experienced rapid growth in the number of members who use online and mobile banking to accomplish day-to-day transactions. We’ve heard from many members that they would like to use these mobile payment options, and this is one way we can maintain our commitment to respond to the needs of our members’ financial behaviors.”

Members have embraced using Samsung Pay and Android Pay to pay for purchases. In just the first few weeks since its launch, members completed over 600 transactions, totaling almost $13,000. The credit union expects the number of users to continue to increase as awareness spreads and more merchants begin to offer mobile payments.

“The cutting edge technology of Samsung Pay and Android Pay provides a seamless and easy way for our members to make purchases on the go,” said Nic Peterson, Director of Card Services. “The added level of convenience and security this service provides is just another way for us to ensure our members have access to the tools and resources they want and need as consumers.”

The credit union’s launch of Samsung Pay and Android Pay arrives after offering Apple Pay for almost a year.  Since then, the credit union has seen steady growth month over month in purchases made with Apple Pay, and foresees the continued increased adoption of mobile payments throughout 2016.
