Credit Union Leaders "Hike the Hill"
Friday, August 19, 2016
Grand Rapids Herald Review (August 19, 2016) - Dave Larson, Affinity Plus Federal Credit Union president/CEO, “Hiked the Hill” July 12-14 in Washington, D.C., with other Minnesota credit-union leaders to speak with elected officials and advocate on behalf of members.
Larson and the contingent – which represented nine state credit unions – met with the entire Minnesota Congressional delegation and spent time with national credit-union regulatory agencies, lobbyists and others.
Specifically, Larson explained Affinity Plus’ commitment to:
- Protect member accounts and identity;
- Encourage savings with unique accounts and new lending features; and
- Use data analysis to proactively help members save money.
“Our Congressional delegation was very engaged and asked a lot of questions about the successes we’re having, and the challenges we’re facing in serving Minnesota consumers,” Larson said. “As a cooperative, we never stop working on behalf of members. Being in Washington, D.C. – both as representatives of our individual credit unions and speaking as a group about cooperative principles – is a vital part of leading this industry into the future.”
