ST.PAUL, Minn. (Sept. 13, 2016) - Affinity Plus Federal Credit Union is one of only eight credit unions nationwide to reach mortgage savings of $1 million for members, through its partnership with CU Realty Services and its HomeAdvantage™ program, the credit-union service organization announced today.

HomeAdvantage™ connects members with local real-estate agents selected by Affinity Plus and other participating credit unions. When members choose to buy or sell a home with one of these agents, they’re eligible for a rebate at closing.

Affinity Plus’ partnership with HomeAdvantage™ began more than ten years ago with a goal of providing additional benefits to members looking to buy or sell, said John Simonsen, Affinity Plus director of Real Estate.

Simonsen said that in 2015 more than 160 members saved $190,000 overall, or about $1,200 each, by using the HomeAdvantage™ program.

“We see how overwhelmed our members get with costs related to buying and selling a home,” he said. “Being able to give them a little bit of financial peace of mind through the opportunity of a rebate is just one way we’re committed to making the process easier.”

Along with a savings opportunity, the HomeAdvantage™ program also provides members with unique home-search tools, online mortgage calculators and other resources and tools.

“Members love that they aren’t bombarded with ads and irrelevant information on the website,” said Amanda Bruggman, Affinity Plus mortgage loan officer. “The real-estate agents we work with are amazing. They take care of our members the same way we do.”

Based in St. Paul, Minn., Affinity Plus Federal Credit Union is a not-for-profit financial cooperative that puts people first above profits. Members of Affinity Plus receive maximum value through competitive rates, minimal fees, and unique, member-centric products and programs. Affinity Plus has 28 branches located throughout Minnesota and is owned by more than 185,000 members. Affinity Plus has over $1.7 billion in assets and $3.5 billion in assets under management.
