Firefly Credit Union - BURNSVILLE, Minn. (October 5, 2016) – Twice a year Firefly Credit Union partners with Shred Right and Green Lights Recycling, Inc. to host their popular Shred Event. This event allows for members and non-members to safely recycle all important documents and electronics.

Firefly’s most recent Shred Event was held on Saturday September 17, 2016 at four Firefly branch locations: Bloomington, Fridley, Burnsville and Lakeville.

This event not only gives the community an opportunity to practice safe recycling and learn about ways to protect important information, but it also has many great benefits on the environment. We are happy to announce that more than 12,000 pounds of paper was shred at the latest event. By shredding and recycling this material, the community was able to save 102 trees, 42,052 gallons of water, 18.02 cubic yards of landfill and 3 years of energy.

The Shred Event is one of the many ways Firefly encourages the community to prevent identity theft. They will be hosting their next community shred event in May 2017. For more information about safeguarding your sensitive information, please visit or
