Mill City Credit Union Awards $2,000 to Local Do-Gooders

Mill City Credit Union - MINNETONKA, Minn. (September 11, 2017) - Mill City Credit Union (CU) has announced the winners of its most recent Making the Greater Good Even Greater give-back campaign. The winners, non-profit WellShare International and small business Comfort Keepers, were each awarded $1,000 from the credit union.


About WellShare International

WellShare International works to give people the education and resources they need to manage their own health. They partner with communities and health care providers to design, implement, and evaluate health programs that respond to the needs of underserved individuals. Their life-changing work takes place in both Minnesota and East Africa, enabling them to reduce health disparities and provide community members with the essential knowledge and care they need to take charge of their own health. The $1,000 from Mill City CU will go towards supporting their underserved communities.


About Comfort Keepers

Located in Plymouth, Comfort Keepers provides senior, respite, and advanced care needs to any adult needing a little extra help to maintain independence and a good quality of life. The organization’s expert caregivers provide the best care possible by travelling to clients’ homes to provide care services and living assistance. This allows seniors, disabled individuals, and adults recovering from surgery or illness to live as independently and comfortably as possible. Comfort Keepers plans to use the $1,000 to start a caregiver assistance fund and help with additional marketing needs.


About Making the Greater Good Even Greater

Making the Greater Good Even Greater is a campaign that honors the credit union philosophy of “people helping people” and inspires charitable giving throughout the Twin Cities area. Community members can nominate their favorite non-profit or small business through Mill City CU’s Greater Good program webpage. Nominations are accepted year-round, and eligible nominees are entered into a Facebook contest. The non- profit and small business with the most likes at the end of a specified voting period are declared the winners and awarded $1,000 each. Since August 2015, Mill City CU has awarded nearly $27,000 to 16 non-profits and 15 small businesses through the campaign.

To be eligible, small business or non-profit organizations must have total net revenue of less than $500,000 on their last IRS filing or an IRS 501c3 tax exemption status. They must also operate in Carver, Hennepin, McLeod, Meeker, or Wright County. Additional details can be found online.
