Hiway Federal Credit Union - ST. PAUL, Minn. (October 9, 2017) - Hiway Federal Credit Union® (Hiway) associates will spread kindness Monday, Oct. 9, their 3rd annual Pave the Way Day.

This year, Hiway associates will be making meals for families at a Ronald McDonald House in St Paul; collecting funds and stuffing backpacks with much needed supplies to be donated to a St Paul Elementary school through the Kids in Need Foundation; preparing 100 lunches, playing games and assisting with resume building at SafeZone, a youth drop‐in center for ages 14‐24; and making greeting cards for the East Side Elders Association. Hiway has also asked their members to help “Fill the Backpacks” by either purchasing a paper icon or making an online donation to show their community support.

“Community outreach is a basic and fundamental value at Hiway,” said Dave Boden, president and CEO. “We are excited to join more than 38 Minnesota credit unions, devoting the day to spreading kindness in our community, supporting one of the basic credit union principles of people‐helping‐people. Joining other credit unions showcases the true power of collaboration.”

Credit unions are committed to the foundational philosophy of “People Helping People,” which is demonstrated by their cooperative structures, support of financial education, and active engagement within their communities. Around the state, 38 Minnesota credit unions and partners will be participating in CU Forward Day, coordinated by Minnesota Credit Union Network, the state trade association for Minnesota’s credit unions, dedicating a total of 12,224 volunteer hours in 80 communities with an estimated impact on more than 33,574 people #cuforwardday.
