Mill City Credit Union - MINNETONKA, Minn. (October 10, 2017) - On Monday, October 9, Mill City Credit Union (CU) joined 37 other Minnesota credit unions and partners to dedicate a total of 12,224 volunteer hours in 80 Minnesota communities with an estimated impact on more than 33,754 people. The day of kindness, known as CU Forward Day, was coordinated by the Minnesota Credit Union Network, the state trade association for Minnesota’s credit unions.
Mill City CU participated by hosting a free Shred Day event for members at its Admin Office in Minnetonka, MN. During the event, 184 vehicles came through to drop off personal documents that they wanted to be securely shredded. Nearly 6,500 pounds of paper was shredded and recycled.
On this day, the credit union also celebrated Member Appreciation Day in each of its eight branches. Members were encouraged to stop by their local branch to receive a free treat and the very popular Mill City CU member calendar for 2018. Lastly, Mill City CU employees implemented an internal chili cook-off that raised just over $200 for Survivor Resources, a local non-profit organization.
As not-for-profit financial institutions, Minnesota’s credit unions work every day to improve their members’ financial lives,” said Minnesota Credit Union Network President & CEO Mark Cummins. “The collaborative effort on CU Forward Day is a perfect example of credit unions fulfilling their ‘people helping people’ philosophy.”
