The first year of the program, over 4,000 Minnesotans have opened WINcentive accounts and saved almost $2.9 million. Through the prize-linked savings program, credit union members throughout the state have won $86,000 and increased their average savings account balance to $709. This month, Affinity Plus Federal Credit Union, Mayo Employees Federal Credit Union, and North Memorial Credit Union will present $1,000 quarterly prizes to their members. In addition, one lucky member from Affinity Plus Federal Credit Union will be surprised today with the $5,000 grand prize.
Credit union staff are invited to join MnCUN at a WINcentive Savings Anniversary Event on Tuesday, Jan. 31, from 9:45 to 10:30 a.m. at the Minnesota State Capitol Press Briefing Room. MnCUN, legislators and community leaders will provide an update on the first year of the WINcentive Savings program, and how the impact of prize-linked savings legislation on savings statewide. The media will be invited and refreshments will be served.
The celebration will be held prior to the Archer Doig Credit Union Day at the Capitol event. All are welcome to park and gather at the Best Western Capitol Ridge at 9:15 a.m. to walk over to the Capitol with the Network Staff.
