Last chance to nominate your outstanding credit union colleague

Do you know an extraordinary professional or volunteer at your credit union? Nominate them for MnCUN's Outstanding Professional and Volunteer of the Year Awards! The deadline for nominations is this Friday, Feb 5.

These awards are presented annually and showcase the dedicated service and professionalism of credit union staff and volunteers. Individuals must be nominated by a colleague to be eligible to receive one of these top honors.

  • Outstanding Professional of the Year recognizes the notable service of one outstanding credit union professional who has selflessly given their time, efforts and talent to the support and promotion of credit unions in Minnesota.
  • Outstanding Volunteer of the Year is given to one extraordinary credit union volunteer who best exemplifies the credit union spirit through dedication to the movement through involvement at local and state levels and participation in other activities that support the credit union mission.

There is also the opportunity this year to nominate an individual, credit union, chapter or affinity group for the Simon Hellermann Award. This award recognizes demonstrated excellence in credit union philanthropy and contributions to the credit union movement in Minnesota. Established in 1999 as a tribute to Minnesota credit union philanthropist Simon Hellermann, this award recognizes an outstanding contribution to a humanitarian cause and also promotes credit union philanthropy, service and loyalty.

Award information and downloadable nomination forms can be found on the 2016 Professional & Volunteer of Year Awards page of the Network website. All nominations must be submitted online by Friday, Feb. 5.

With questions about the awards programs, contact MnCUN Director of Communications Andrea Molnau.

MnCUN Partners with Augsburg MBA Students to Measure Economic and Social Impact of Minnesota’s Credit Unions

MnCUN has partnered with the Augsburg College MBA program to conduct a study regarding the Economic and Social Impact of Minnesota’s Credit Unions. We believe the impact is a positive one, and plan to use the data gleaned from this study as another opportunity to inform legislators, opinion leaders, the media, and consumers, about all of the great things credit unions are doing socially and economically for the state of Minnesota.

A group of MBA students will be conducting research on our behalf, and survey regarding social impact efforts (i.e.: sponsorships, volunteering, scholarships, education, etc.) will be emailed soon to credit union CEO’s and Marketers. Please take the time to complete the survey, as the greater the participation, the more accurate the results. And in turn, the greater impact we will be able to show. Results of the study will be available this coming spring.

Kristie Jacobson honored by Mayo Employees Federal Credit Union through MnCUF “Credit Union Builder” award

The Leadership Team and Board of Directors of the Mayo Employees Federal Credit Union (MEFCU), at a recent Board meeting, honored their Board Chair, Kristie L. Jacobson, as a Credit Union Builder through the Minnesota Credit Union Foundation (MnCUF).

“The Credit Union Builder Award is being presented to Kristie for her faithful service to MEFCU since 2000 as she has steadily increased her responsibilities over time, contributing significantly to the ongoing growth and success of the organization,” said MEFCU President and CEO, Mary Hansen. “In appreciation for her gift of time and talent to our credit union, it is our sincere pleasure to honor Kristie with this award.”

Kristie began her volunteer work as a member of the Supervisory Committee in 2000 and then accepted the Chair role for the Supervisory Committee in 2001 and served in that role through 2004.  She continued her work on the Supervisory Committee until 2006 when she was elected to the Board of Director role.  In 2008 Kristie became Vice Chair of the Board and moved into the Chair role in 2014, which she continues to serve.

Jacobson joins 36 other individuals who have been honored since 2008 with MnCUF’s Credit Union Builder Award. The names of the recipients and the contributing credit unions are permanently displayed in the Minnesota Credit Union Network’s lobby as a tribute to their accomplishments. The honorees receive a plaque from the Minnesota Credit Union Foundation, and donors are also listed online and in the MnCUF’s annual report.
