Credit Union Young Professionals Network, Discuss Emotional Intelligence at Spring P2P Session
The Minnesota Credit Union Network’s young professional group, the Crew, kicked off 2017 with its first event on March 16, 2017. The event centered around two main activities: meeting credit union professionals and learning about Emotional Intelligence (EI).
After a 30-minute speed networking time, Matthew Schewe, vice president of member experience at City & County Credit Union, introduced the topic of Emotional Intelligence. His presentation included the fundamentals of EI, real life examples of EI, how to improve one’s EI and how it can impact a success in the workplace.
“As a group that aims to develop future credit union leaders, we chose a topic that helps develop skills we don’t always learn on the job,” commented Laura Jorris, the 2017 Crew Ambassador. “This topic really speaks to how young professionals can set the groundwork for future success by continually working on the intangible side of business.”
The Crew is a group for young professionals – under 40 years old - working in the credit union movement in Minnesota. The Minnesota Credit Union Network hosts special sessions for Crew members at major MnCUN events as well as standalone Crew education sessions, networking events, and volunteer opportunities throughout the year. More information about the group is available on the Crew page of the MnCUN website.
