GrassRoots Education & Action Team Webinar for HR, Trainers – July 11

On Monday, July 11, the Minnesota Credit Union Network will be holding a webinar providing a brief overview of the GrassRoots Education & Action Team (GREAT) program, why grassroots advocacy is important, and more specifically, what tools the Network has developed to engage employees to participate in GREAT.

GREAT is coordinated by the Minnesota Credit Union Network and powered by Minnesota credit union employees, volunteers, and members. GREAT provides credit union supporters an easy way to help preserve, protect and promote Minnesota credit unions through an online tool used for grassroots legislative communication. By participating in this program, credit union staff and members join other supporters from across the state in sharing the credit union difference with elected officials.

The webinar will begin at 1 p.m. and can be accessed online via Adobe Connect.

With questions, contact MnCUN Director of Advocacy Ryan Smith by email or by phone at 651-288-5533.

Young Credit Union Professional Laura Siirila Crashes the ACUC

Last week, City & County Credit Union Marketing Specialist Laura Siirila crashed the America’s Credit Union Conference in Seattle. Crash ACUC is an event by The Cooperative Trust in partnership with CUNA. Crash the ACUC gave credit union professionals under the age of 35 the chance to participate in the annual CUNA event plus provided opportunities to meet with veterans of the credit union system.

Each year, CUNA’s Americas Credit Union Conference unites credit union leaders to:

  • Hear from influential business leaders, thought leaders, policymakers and credit union experts about how to grow, sustain and enhance credit unions and the services they provide to their members
  • Identify new strategies for building and maintaining America's awareness and trust
  • Network with credit union leaders
  • Attend breakout sessions on the hottest issues in the movement
  • Tour one of the largest vendor showcase in the financial services industry

“Attending a national conference is inspiring: you hear from industry experts about what’s happening locally, nationally and globally within credit unions, and bring home new ideas of how to propel your credit union forward,” said Laura. “As a Crasher, I now have new, passionate credit union young professionals that I can contact with any questions, learn from their experiences, hear what’s happening in their markets.”

Siirila was one of 10 young credit union professionals from across the nation selected to participate in the 2016 Crash the ACUC event. She also serves on the Minnesota Credit Union Network Crew Advisory Group.
