Growing Number of Credit Unions to Participate in CU Forward Day
CU Forward Day is a statewide day of credit union kindness. Held on Columbus Day, credit unions are encouraged to participate by selecting a community giveback opportunity that means the most to their staff and community. In the past, credit union staff have spent the day delivering gift baskets to local law enforcement, volunteering with Habitat for Humanity, hosting a community shred day, volunteering for park cleanup, helping at a local food shelf, and much more.
The Minnesota Credit Union Network coordinates involvement, provides best practices and resources, and organizes media coverage throughout the state.
“The Minnesota Credit Union Network has been working with local non-profits to coordinate volunteer opportunities for credit unions to participate in during the 2018 CU Forward Day,” said MnCUN Director of Engagement Ben Hering. “In 2017, 37 credit unions and industry partners participated in CU Forward Day. This year, we want to increase that number and make an even larger impact on our communities”
MnCUN has contacted the designated project coordinator for 2017 CU Forward Day participants. If your credit union did not participate in 2017, and would like more information, or to designate a project coordinator, please contact MnCUN Director of Engagement Ben Hering by email or by phone at 651-288-5519.

Hold a Miracle Jeans Day to Gillette Children’s Specialty Healthcare
Wearing jeans may lead to a more comfortable day in the office for you, but on Miracle Jeans Day, it also generates hope for families relying on the services of a Childrens Miracle Network Hospital. A simple $5 donation could supply 10 diapers for a premature baby. A $25 donation could provide five baby blankets. Best of all - your donation stays local to help kids in Minnesota at Gillette Children’s Specialty Healthcare.
Since 2009, Miracle Jeans Day has encouraged groups and individuals alike to trade their traditional work attire for jeans and help raise funds for kids treated at the Children’s Miracle Network Hospital in their area. Since its beginning, Miracle Jeans Day has raised more than $4 million to help fund life-saving medical needs in Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.
The official 2018 Miracle Jeans Day is Wednesday, Sept. 12, however, credit unions are encouraged to hold miracle jeans days whenever their schedules allow. To register and order merchandise visit the Miracle Jeans Day website.
